Single Feeder with Metal Hummingbird

Single Feeder with Metal Hummingbird

$50.00

My solid copper hummingbird feeders are truly drip-free, bee and wasp-proof! I invented them based on the experience gleaned during my 22 years caring for hummingbirds at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson, AZ.

In addition to being bee and wasp-proof, my feeders are easy to use, clean, and are virtually unbreakable. (All factors necessary for a zookeeper changing up to 30 feeders twice daily!) Each feeder comes with two one-ounce, dishwasher-safe, plastic feeding jars with lids.

1-3 hummingbirds will empty a jar of food in about 2 days (depending on the time of year, other available food sources, whether one bird is capable of defending the feeder from other birds, etc). The feeders are most effective against bees and wasps if changed daily.

Instructions for use included.

Note: My feeders hold less food than the average hummingbird feeder. Here's why: In order to be effective at deterring bees and wasps there must be NO sugar water on the outside of the feeders where the insects can get to it. Sometimes hummingbirds are a little messy and will drip food while feeding and the easiest way to be certain that there isn't a build-up of the sweet stuff on the feeder tops is to change the food containers DAILY. Larger containers would result in wasted sugar water.

All this being said, if there are no bee issues, most people find that 1-3 hummingbirds empty one jar of food in about 2 days (depending on the time of year, other available food sources, whether one bird is capable of defending the feeder from other birds, etc).*

*any hummingbird feeder should be changed every 2-3 days to ensure freshness.
